awal 1990-an membawa kehancuran. Adegan menjadi terkenal, terutama di
negara-negara Skandinavia, tetapi bahkan di antara anak-anak Arya di
negara fjord, tidak ada gerakan yang kuat dan bawah tanah seperti di
bagian timur benua Amerika Selatan. Meskipun gereja tidak dibakar, ada
banyak pembunuhan di sini, terutama di antara geng jalanan yang
bersaing. Tumbuh di pedesaan yang keras ini, sepasang prajurit berkuda
keledai ini, bersama dengan band Burzum, Mayhem, dan Darkthrone ,
meletakkan landasan gaya ini.

A 90-es évek elején a black metal második hulláma elhozta a pusztulást. Főleg a skandináv országokban vált hirhedtté a szcéna, azonban még a fjordok országának árja gyermekei közt sem alakult ki olyan erős és földalatti mozgalom, mint a dél-amerikai kontinens keleti részén. Ugyan templomok nem gyulladtak ki, de gyilkosságok itt is bőven akadtak, főleg a rivális utcai bandák között. Ezen a kemény vidéken nőt fel ez a pár szamárháton lovagló harcos, akik a Burzum, Mayhem és Darkthrone zenekarokkal karöltve rakták le a stílus alapkövét.
A brazil Echoes 1991-ben kezdte bontogatni szárnyait. Kiadtak néhány demot, s miután rájöttek hogy ezzel nem tudják teljes egészében kifejezni azt a démoni sötétséget mi zenéjükből árad, elkezdtek videoklipeket gyártani. Zenéjüket talán raw black metalként lehet meghatározni, ha egészen pontosak akarunk lenni, bár azt is megmerem kockáztatni, hogy ezen a vonalon stílusteremtőkkel állunk szemben.
Stanley Brian basszusgitáros egy interjúban a következő szavakkal jellemezte művészetüket:
"Megpróbáljuk a lehető legegyértelműbben megmutatni minden hitetlenségünket mindazokban a dolgokban, melyek a keresztények számára szentek. Úgy gondolom az embernek a saját ösztöneit kell követnie anélkül, hogy bármilyen vallási dogmának meg kelljen felelnie."
Ezek a szavak bizonyítják, hogy az Echoes mennyire komolyan veszi álnok küldetésüket.
